Installation and removal instructions for the Bad Attitude CDI Igniter

All units except T-S & S-C Models

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.

  2. Remove spark plug wire boots from spark plug.

  3. Disconnect the black/red stripe, black, black/yellow stripe and blue wires. (on S-X and late module X-2 remove the electrical junction box cover.)

  4. Remove the two (2) mounting bolts and dismount old CDI

INSTALLATION

This CDI uses a high efficiency, high output ignition coil.  The spark plug wires must be connected to either grounded spark plugs or grounded spark detectors. Using resistor spark plugs or boots will damage the CDI. Failure to follow the above directions will void the warranty. Use only terminals and boots supplied with the unit.  If you are unfamiliar with this type of ignition installation consult your jet ski dealer.

  1. Mount the Bad Attitude CDI using the screws supplied with the unit.

  2. Reconnect black, black/red stripe, black/yellow stripe and blue wires. Make sure connectors are tight fitting. (connector with click)

  3. On S-X and late model X-2 reassemble electrical junction box, Appling high temp silicone to all grommets and gaskets.

  4. Reconnect spark plug wires

  5. reconnect negative battery cable.

NOTICE: Final timing must be checked with a timing light please consult you Kawasaki manual:      Stock:   17 deg  =  .080 BTDC

                   Race:    21 deg  =  .100 BTDC

We recommend using B8EV spark plugs with a .030in. (.77mm) gap.

Cut the pug wires to desired length. Insert the end of the spiral (a) into the end of the wire (b) as shown in figure 1. insert the assembly into the boot (c) making sure the coil end of the spiral is turned so the spark plug will connect (figure 2).  Use wire-dri to spay the boot for a easer fit and to water proof the spark plug wires. If wire-dri is not available, amor all or son of a gun can be used

T-S & S-C Models

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.

  2. Remove spark plug wire boots from spark plug.

  3. Remove bolts and open electrical box.

  4. Disconnect the purple, black/yellow stripe, white and black wires.

  5. remove the two(2) mounting bolts and dismount old CDI.

  2. Minor grinding to the ears of the igniter is required to fit the unit into the electrical box.

  3. connect wires as follows

                                        Jet Ski Wire Colors                         Bad Attitude CDI Colors

Purple            to      Black/red stripe

          Black/Yellow            to      Black/yellow stripe (ground)

White    to             Black

Black      to                Blue

  1. Appling high temp silicone to all grommets and gaskets.
  2. Reconnect spark plug wires

  3. Reconnect negative battery cable.
